Time: 5.30pm - 7.00pm
Date: Thursdays, 9 October to 18 December 2025
Where: Castlemaine Community House
Instructor: Anitra Nelson

Work on a creative localised degrowth research project singly and/or collectively in a lively and supportive atmosphere. Perfect for those who have completed the Introductory Degrowth course (or equivalent).

Bring along, and hear, ideas about how we might we transform provisioning of our essentials (food, housing, clothings and so on) in local degrowth ways for a more convivial and sustainable future.

Participants will decide and negotiate with the facilitator to complete a feasible project individually or with others. Having proposed a schedule at the first class, each fortnight participants will report on progress, address challenges and benefit from the collective knowledge and skills of all participants in class discussions.

Following the desires of participants we will work towards a small degrowth event, the launch of one or more degrowth initiatives, and/or an exhibition of posters and creative works. Think: libraries for tools and more; repair workshops; swap networks; zines, presses and posters; and makers’ spaces.

Degrowth Central Victoria activist-scholar Anitra Nelson is facilitating this ten-week practice course on degrowth transformation – drawing on her activism, teaching, and four books exploring the theory and practice of degrowth. Contact her for more details: anitra.nelson@unimelb.edu.au
