This course will explore the essential hand-sewing skills required to keep your clothing in good condition and use for longer. This 6-week course is for beginners and those with basic sewing experience.

We will cover a broad range of techniques and practice how they can be applied to altering, repairing, and maintaining your clothing. We delve into traditional hand techniques that have become lost, exploring how they can be used to improve our clothes.

This course will provide you with a range of empowering and practical skills to practice at home and share with others.

Trainer: Incarnation

Incarnation is a community-centered education, retail, and workspace dedicated to minimising the ecological impacts of the textile and fashion industries. Owners of Incarnation, Holly Simpson, and Britta Rouse are makers and teachers who work solely with reclaimed materials, repairing and repurposing. They promote alternate ways of consuming clothing and objects, sharing these skills with others to make impactful changes toward our planet’s health. They have a combined 15+ years of teaching clothing construction, pattern making, and machine operation.
