Born as the very first second generation Japanese Australian in a small country town, Castlemaine, central Victoria, Australia, Isabelle was surrounded with Japanese images from books, magazines, posters, kimonos, Japanese ornaments and music which her mother had bought from Japan or gifts from her Japanese family.
Isabelle started drawing at the age of 5 and the rest is history. Although she predominately studied art in Australia, Isabelle finally managed to live in Japan to study Japanese calligraphy, Sumi-e painting and live painting performances.
Isabelle has exhibited nationally and internationally since her late teens.
