The course is designed to address:

·       What is Art Therapy?

·       What are the benefits of Art Therapy?

·       How can Art therapy be adapted to a variety of workspaces?

This introductory course aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of Art Therapy, covering the following key areas:

·     The fundamental principles of art therapy

·      Practical applications of art therapy

·      Critical considerations for practitioners

·      Additional skills and training necessary for practice

·      Opportunities for further education and professional development in Arts Therapy

·       Encouragement to explore pre-accredited programs and accredited higher education options

·       Hands-on experience facilitating an art therapy session during class

Please note: This is a pre-accredited course intended solely for educational purposes. It does not allow for students to practice as art therapists either during or upon completion of the course. Furthermore, this course is not a substitute for accredited programs. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of participation.

Facilitator: Marcela Olea (AThR) – Experiential and Creative Arts Therapist

As a trained Experiential & Creative Arts practitioner Marcela believes the creative arts can be an essential component for enriching our lives.

After completing a Master of Arts in Experiential and Creative Arts Practice and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts, her artistic practice took shape in 2013, forming her own private practice CreativeCels.

As an art therapist, Marcela offers art making workshops in group or individual settings for a range of participants. She sits alongside participants facilitating an arts based inquiry process seeking meaning and understanding through a variety of creative ways.
