Date: Mondays, 28th April to 2nd June 2025
Where: Castlemaine Community House

During this 6-week course we will understand the basic operation of a domestic sewing machine and troubleshoot common problems that can arise along the way. We will tackle a range of essential seaming techniques and begin to understand the fundamentals of simple pattern making. You will finish the course with a handmade, thoughtful item to enjoy. Plus, you will walk away with a range of practical skills you can apply to any sewing project.

This course is especially suited to those who have a machine at home but haven’t yet mastered using it. We encourage you to bring your machine along or borrow one of ours for the duration of the course.

Britta Rouse is a designer and quilt maker who works solely with reclaimed materials and repurposing garments. She has many years of experience teaching sewing, pattern making, and machine operation.
