Harvest Ready is a series of practical, inclusive workshops designed for local peopple, of all ages and abilities, to develop skills and confidence for employment and volunteering in orchards, or care for your own fruit trees at home.

Developing Harvest skills including safe equipment use, pruning and harvesting of fruit, provides an excellent foundation for seeking seasonal work in orchards and farms, a great way to get a boot in the door for work across all of Australia!

This project is a partnership between Castlemaine Community House, the Growing Abundance Project, The Orchard Keepers and Grow Great Fruit, and have been developed to meet the needs of our community.

The Workshop Series:

Fruit Fly Management – Saturday 21st February, at Castlemaine Community House

Safe Equipment Use & Pruning Principles – 12-3pm, Wed 25th or Thursday 26th Feb, in Harcourt

Harvest Skills – 2-5pm, Thursday 12th March, in Harcourt

Chainsaw Safety Workshop – 10-1pm Saturday 18th April, at Castlemaine Community House

Pruning Principles & Practice – 2-5pm Saturday 2nd May, in Harcourt
