Join this 6-week creative writing course with filmmaker and author Anne Rittman, designed to help you uncover and craft your unique story.
You are the author of your own life. At a deep level, writing from memory clears your mind and prepares you for new adventures.
In this dynamic course Anne will guide you through the foundations of writing, from building compelling narratives to exploring the path to publication. You’ll also discover digital tools that can enhance your writing process and develop your ability to write stories from your life in a way that fully engages your readers.
Whether you’re an experienced writer or just beginning to think about how to reflect on your life experiences through writing, this workshop offers valuable insights, encouragement, and practical advice to help you bring your memories to life on paper.
The benefits of memoir writing are many, memoir is your legacy, a gift to yourself, firends and family, and a guarantee your story will not be forgotten.
A laptop or tablet is required for this course. Castlemaine Community House can also provide one if needed.

Anne Rittman taught art and filmmaking in Victorian Primary and Secondary schools for over 23 years. She co-founded and managed Pigtale, a design studio and small manufacturing business in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Anne was the instigator and a founding member of The Women’s Gallery which ran successfully for 8 years in Brunswick Street.
Anne studied writing at RMIT, producing Telling Tales, an anthology of short stories, and The Spider and the Fly, a short film. Anne published Brunswick Street, Art & Revolution in 2017, capturing the story of a street that became a culture. She recently published a follow up anthology, Bohemian Brunswick Street in 2024.
