Keen to learn the basics about cars? Or curious what it’s really like to work in the local industry? This course is for you.
AND IT’S FREE!!!
(but bookings are essential)
This industry is huge! Car mechanic, welder, electrician, diesel mechanic, electric cars, parts, sales, electric vehicles and so much more.
Drive Forward is an introductory course designed for those who want to explore or enter the automotive industry. The course combines practical, hands-on car mechanics with the workplace skills that employers actually look for: clear communication, problem-solving, professionalism, and confidence.
You’ll get to visit local workshops, have a go with some of the tools, take a trip to Bendigo to check out the TAFE, and get a taste for all the different ways you can get involved in this ever changing career. You’ll build real skills you can use from day one in a workplace.
The course involves a combination of classroom learning and hands on opportunities. You’ll connect with local employers through workplace visits, workshop tours, and staff shadowing experiences and mock interviews will help build confidence and prepare you for the real thing. Direct contact with industry professionals will give you a feel for the work environment and a genuine opportunity to explore local employment pathways.
This course is for anyone who is curious about cars, considering a career change, or wanting to understand vehicles better. No previous knowledge, experience or qualifications required.
After this course: You could tell employers you have these new skills, do another course at Castlemaine Community House, study a big range of courses at TAFE or University, apply for an apprenticeship, or apply for a job. Through this course you’ll map out a path that helps you get where you want to go.
