All the skills you need to work in a cafe or a shop.
There’s a lot of cross over in retail and hospitality skills: great customer service, using a point of sale system or a cash register, knowing how to deal with complaints, and understanding rosters.
This course will get you ready to apply for local jobs in a cafe, restaurant, pub, clothing store, hardware shop, supermarket and any number of other local employers.
Your facilitator will help you understand how to work brilliantly with customers, and the jobs you can progress into with these transferable skills. It doesn’t matter where you work, having great customer service skills is something you’ll never regret!
The 8 week course will cover topics like: ~ Types of cash registers ~ Types of point of sale systems ~ Learn to use Square and process sales ~ Experience a commercial kitchen ~ Take orders and serve customers ~ Help customers in a retail store ~ Best practice in customer service ~ How to manage challenges and complaints
After this course: You’ll be able to sign up for our Barista course, Responsible Service of Alcohol training and Food Hygiene if you want to extend your learning and be job ready. Plus you could tell employers you have these new skills, do another course at Castlemaine Community House, study hospitality or retail further at TAFE , or apply for a job.
About your trainer: Remy is a local cafe operator and hands-on educator who is dedicated to creating exceptional hospitality experiences through food, specialty coffee, and community connection. Remy has learned the ropes of customer service through years of practical, everyday face-to-face interactions and has experience working in almost every hospitality and retail setting. With an engaging, down-to-earth teaching style, Remy loves supporting others on their journey to service greatness.
