Explore the language of drawing in this studio-based course focused on observation and mark-making.

Set in the studio, this drawing course focuses on the language of drawing rather than simply creating pictures. Through guided exercises, you’ll develop your observational skills and learn how the drawing tool can become an extension of your eye.

Drawing is not just about what you see, but how you see it. This course explores the “felt” process of observation, helping you translate what you perceive into confident, expressive marks on the page.

Across this 8-week course, you will explore how to:

  • Describe the form of objects in space
  • Place objects convincingly on a ground plane
  • Use and vary line with intention
  • Understand the dynamic nature of composition
  • Build tone and depth in your drawings
  • Experiment with a variety of media including charcoal, pen and ink, washes, and other drawing materials

Suitable for beginners and those wishing to strengthen their foundational drawing skills, this course offers a supportive studio environment to deepen your understanding of how drawing works.

Accessibility – Please note this class will take place up 2 flights of stairs.
