My Home Network was formed in 2019 in response to increasing community concern about the lack of affordable, safe, secure, and sustainable housing across Mount Alexander Shire, and the resulting crisis of homelessness/being unhoused.
My Home Network recognise renters don’t have the same capacity to retrofit their rentals as this depends on the landlords, but wanted to share the no or low cost measures they can take. They also recognise that social housing and private rentals are often the worst housing in terms of energy efficiency so renters pay a disproportionate amount on heating and cooling.
So, My Home Network made a video, based on content they delivered to the local West End Resilience Network (WER). The video features information on tenants rights, rental energy efficiency and understanding and reducing your rental utilities bills, and accessing supports and concessions.
