The latest What’s Abundant column highlights Seedy Saturday.

Castlemaine Community House is proud to partner with the Castlemaine Seed Library, which is celebrating 10 years of providing the community with locally grown, organic, non-hybrid seeds suited to our local conditions.

Join the Seedy Saturday Seed Swap on Friday 1 August in the foyer of Castlemaine Library. Enjoy a seed-saving demonstration and talk by Gregg Muller from Useful Seeds, swap locally grown seeds, and discover new varieties to plant this season.

Children are welcome, with a drawing activity to help decorate a new seed cabinet built by the Newstead Men’s Shed.

As Seed Library Coordinator Eliza Jane Gilchrist says, “This is a chance to get all the seeds you need to get your summer vegetables started, and to try out some new plants too.”

It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate local seed saving, connect with fellow gardeners, and share knowledge with seed-saving groups from across Central Victoria.
